Suggestions for hunting snacks in backcountry

I don't think you can go wrong with some trailmix. I usually do homemade and personally like it with cashews, peanuts, almonds, granola clusters w/ chocolate, and a small amount of cereal (cheerios or equivalent). Pretty cheap for the quantity you can make, has a lot calories, fairly light. I usually just leave a sandwich bag of it in my pack at all times.
 
Blue diamond smokehouse almonds,walnuts,Fisher hunny glazed pecans,dried cranberries,dried pineapple,dried apricots,and of course raisens both gold and red,jif individual peanut butter packets, pop tarts...fun size candy bars.
 
I'm liking these ideas! From what I've gathered I think I'm gonna take more food that I like, sacrificing alittle weight. I remember I just got really burned out and would come back to my tent near 9:30-10:00 and wouldn't even want to make dinner.

Most guys seem to go nut based, trail mix, chocolate, jerky. All energy producers - most folks also like that kind of stuff.

Guess the bottom line is to take what you enjoy. If a xxxxxx is gonna help you enjoy your trip - bring it. (y)
 
We make our own carnivore trail mix. Bits of our own jerky,pepperoni & summer sausage with chunks of cheddar & pepperjack. Vacuum seal individual packs for each day with a few mini candy bars,mini bagel w/individual peanut butter & some fruit snacks & hard candy for cleansing the pallet after all the protein & calories from the other stuff. Sometimes add a granola bar & regular trail mix as well. Figure out in the pre season how much you need of each per day & what you like in your lunch kit. I have my per day lunch kit individually made so it’s easy to throw in for the next day.

Wow. Jerky simmer sausage, and pepperoni along with cheese sounds amazing! Would you be concerned with the cheese melting or going bad or anything in 35-70 degree weather?

I recently discovered the packaroones by Heathers Choice, I enjoy these as well as the Honey Stinger waffles. The later hunts (Nov-Dec) I avoid the Justins butter packets as it gets too cold to eat. I'll also buy the chocolate covered espresso beans in the bulk section, good quick calories with extra energy.

Mexican butthole sandwich - take a flour tortilla and slather on some almond butter, add maple bacon jerky, and top with honey. Fold it up into a burrito. Packs well and lasts a few days. Nutella is a good add on for extra calories.

I wouldn't recommend these if you are not burning a lot of calories hunting.
