Recently moved down to Savannah and have been trying out little lots here and there and have had some good activity on cameras, but only a few encounters. Friday night I decided to try a new spot Saturday am. I usually don't like hunting a new spot in the am since you dont really know the area and trying to pick the right tree in the dark isnt ideal. Despite that I have learned you cant kill them if your not out there. Well I stumble into the woods trying to be quiet with my stand and find what looks like a good enough spot since light was coming fast. As I was hanging my second tree step I could hear a deer chasing so had to make the call to either sit tight on the ground or just keep going and get my stand hung. Decided to continue and got up in the tree and it wasnt probably 20-30 minutes and this buck came cruising in. He turned and walked right to my tree. Shot him at 7 yards. He went maybe 40 yards. First hunt with this new to me Bowtech Reign 7 and Nock2It. Had the inside loins for dinner that night! First thumb release and super impressed with it.
