Stupid question about leaving a round loaded.

Struggling with cell signal in the field trying to search and Google. I fired today around noon and ran a cleaning patch then dry patches then reloaded quickly. I didn't use the rust preventative. I assume leaving it for tomorrow is fine? Using White Hot pellets never could find the BH209 before the hunt.

Hairy S, I've left them in as well for a few days as well and expect you will be fine to hunt with it tomorrow.

If others have direct knowledge that we shouldn't do that, or more precisely how long is prudent, please share.

It's been years since I used a MZ. I live in the PNW and I had trouble with moisture if I left it too long. Maybe consider your environment. You may not have the same shelf life in a moist location.

Thank you all, man it was awful trying to search anything up out there but I was able to get the page to load and see the replies. Hopefully I can find some Blackhorn in the off season to have on hand.

Definitely. It was pretty wet and misty rain all of Saturday evening and Sunday. When I "unloaded" it for the night I put a spent primer in the primer pocket thinking it would help with the moisture and I keep the finger balloons over the muzzle 24/7 as well.

lol.... I'm a newb to these things but what I was worried about was that I didn't run the rust preventative through before loading it up after it was fired. I know with BH209 it's not an issue but wasn't sure how long I could go after firing the other stuff. I cleaned the heck out of it last night and still can't seem to come out with a clean patch, 4 stripes of brown/copper looking stuff on it every time so I'm gonna clean it again tonight.

oh ya, I've left mine fouled/loaded for a weeks after the season ends until I get to it. No issues.

My personal preference is to zero check then fully clean and foul the bore with 1 shot before season, and then it stays loaded til I shoot at an animal or season ends. Then I usually forget to clean it until about spring, like now lol. My bore looks atrocious, but I figure what's it matter if it shoots well when it's fouled.

Are you shooting sabots? What cleaner are you using? I have found the Thompson Center No 13 bore cleaner to work really well if you use a lot of it, a sopping wet patch will usually dissolve most of the carbon on touch in mine. I've never used BH though, this is with Pyrodex or Triple7 residue.

I'm shooting Fury Universals with White Hots. I also bought the Barnes TEZ Sabot but the Fury shot very well at the range so never bothered to try the Barnes. I'm using Thor presoaked cleaning patches, rust prevent patches and dry patches. When I cleaned it last night I used the Thor foaming bore cleaner, let it soak an hour and dry patched it then hit it again with the foam and watched 3 episodes of Tulsa King and hit it with the dry patches again.

I'm probably overthinking the whole thing but I don't want to break it out in the fall and discover a solid block of steel with no hole inside lol.
