I have a buddy pulling his hair out trying to get a rifle to shoot more accurately when it’s already doing a pretty darn good job. He’s getting 10 shot groups of about 1.25 MOA and thinks he needs to cut that down to .5 in order to shoot longer range. I’ve been telling him he’s all wet.

I remember reading a study posted online somewhere that quantified the difference in making hits or not on rifles that grouped .5, 1.0, and 2.0 MOA, or something to that effect. The conclusion was there was no appreciable increase in hits with the more accurate rifle. I would like to show him that study. Can anybody dig it up?

Note that PRB article only compares folks who can read wind to 2.5 MPH. I'm guessing your buddy cant, thus increased precision would make an even smaller difference than the results of the study as illustrated in the recent S2H podcast.
