Stripping old fletching before refletching

Over the last few years I've started using wraps. Just stripped some arrows last weekend. I have a vane stripping tool that works really well. After peeling the wraps, I use alcohol to take any other residue off.

I generally use sharp knife and a steep angle to get the fletching off. Then I'll use a little duller knife running it back and forward to scrape off any excess glue or adhesive and wipe it with acetone on a rag after.

A potato peeler is the best way I have found to strip and clean carbon shafts. I then soak in acetone for about 3 minute to remove any residue. Never have had any issues, but I may try the 90% alcohol.

Zip Strip here too, followed by an extremely fine aluminum oxide wet/dry sandpaper.

I quit using acetone as a solvent for most things archery several years ago. Now days, I use Everclear as a residue free solvent. Smell isn't terrible, dries quick, no residue left behind.

The grain alcohol cleans the shaft of fine sanding residue and it is ready to refletch quickly.

Potato peeler is a clever idea. Going to try that and hot water next time.

The best thing I've found is the edge side of the dog nail trimmers. I take them apart so I'm only using the one handle with the edge on it and run it down the arrow. Use acetone or alcohol to get rid of any residue. A knife can work in a pinch but you get into the carbon more that way IME.
