Last question. I see you can buy the new bag without the lid. Is the lid for the new bag the same as the old Sky 5100?

HuntAbsarokee – The 22” vertical pocket is on the outside of the pack, it is sized for largest of spotters, there is also extra room in this pocket for Swing Out pockets or soft goods like hat and gloves. There are side pouches on both sides for tripod, trekking poles, water bottle, or a rifle. In regards to the lid, it is the same as the Sky 5100 and we can work with you on that. Best thing would be to give Pete a call at 406-404-0641 and he can get you set up.

Tttoadman - The Load shelf is included with every frame, not with bags. The load shelf attaches in the exact same way, we did not change anything with the load shelf. The upper and lower straps do not have Velcro,. We didn’t find a need for them over the last year of testing, but we would be happy to send 4 webbing keepers at no charge if you prefer. We will work on the extra photos, but it may take us a bit as the store is a little short staffed with show season underway

Goathunter - You are correct, the 5900 bag will fit any Krux frame. We did not change any bag attachment, load shelf configuration, compression strap configuration, or construction methods on the new frame. In actuality, it could be described as the next generation of the Krux frame. We used all that we have learned from the Krux and works well, then added to it providing increased adjustability and comfort.

Airlocksniffer – The Xcurve has the same height and footprint as the Krux, the height is 25.5” tall. The weight is 8 oz more than the Krux frame.

I've always looked past SG because of the flat frame shape, but I love the SG bags simplicity and layout, so I'm intrigued by the concept of a contoured frame...

Tuscola. I'm not sure what the MK1 is, maybe the earlier Krux frames? I've used the older Krux a lot as well as a couple of Kifaru frames, including the new Hunting Duplex. I'll have a write up on my thoughts later this week.

This new frame steps comfort up to another level.

Crap man, that frame looks sexy. Crap. Had decided to upgrade my bikini frame to a new Kifaru hunting frame since my bikini really jabs into my hip when i'm over 75lbs. I'm a skinny, bony dude with bony hips and the bikini really digs in at high weights. The dual tensioner idea looks like it might be just what the doctor ordered.

gbrim21, I'm built very similar and have used the bikini, Hunting Duplex as well as a bunch of other packs. This one smoked them all for comfort, including my Barney's frame up to 100 pounds. I have not hauled more for extended hikes, but the Xcurve-frame was beyond what I thought was capable as far as comfort in an ultralight frame setup.

Also, does the base price of pack and frame include the lid?

Why on earth would you be bummed??? Creating a product. Then sending it out for extensive testing and refining is how it should be. How else would you like an expensive item offered??

You must have a reading comprehension problem. As I've already said, I'm gld they brought out a new frame. But I don't like buying products hot off the engineering table, especially when it's a $600 item that depreciates. So I'll wait a few years for this one.

Compared with the kifaru 26" UL frame with the Exo 3200 bag and the new x-curve frame with solo bag....are they about the same beefiness? Meaning which is more streamline and better for busting through the brush. Have the UL 26" but I'm getting caught up on branches all the time. Sorry for my rookie discription....having a hard time trying to discribe what I'm looking for...streamline? Is that what I'm trying to ask? Lol

I've noticed on my Krux frame that when using the weapon sling I have been getting some wear on hip belt tensioner strap due to my rifle stock rubbing on it , just wondering if the new X-curve will actually scratch up my rifle stock because of the new adjustable upper & lower belt tensioner BUCKLES that are now on the belt. can anyone comment on this. Kurt/Pete

They seem all about the same to me. The difference is just as much where a person wears it than how tall the frame is. When I am busting through shit, it usually with day gear which is light. Drop the shoulder straps loose, lower the belt a couple inches, and crash away.

Man, didn't even think of that. Again I'm new to these packs and haven't figured all the tricks yet. Most of the time I'm packing pretty light and know my pack is overkill 60% of the time, but it's that 40% that I'm in heaven. I'll try this in the morning. Thanks for your help.

When I'm in hunt mode with a light to empty pack, I don't buckle the waist belt and loosen the shoulder straps a bit and let it drop down, no more snags. And tighten the buckles all the way to the foam on the belt so they don't clank around.

Also I find you can stay way cooler this way as you get more air flow around your back and such since it's not all strapped to u tight.
