Been wanting to upgrade my puffy to something less bulky than my Sitka Kelvin Lite Hoody while maintaining or improving warmth.

I have narrowed it down to either the Stone Glacier Grumman or Grumman Lite.

I will be archery elk hunting in Colorado in mid-to-late September this year, but this would generally be used for September hunts throughout the western mountain states.

I currently run a Sitka Ambient as my active insulation layer. My thought is that the Ambient layered under the Grumman Lite should be plenty for time around camp and glassing on colder mornings.

My main concern is that I cannot find much feedback on how well the Grumman Lite handles the colder mountain conditions that can show up in late September compared to the Grumman which everyone loves.

For those who have used both, would you go with the Grumman Lite for this application, or is the added warmth of the standard Grumman worth the extra cost and bulk?

It is a static piece so I agree with the above. Seems more likely to be too cold with the lite than too hot with the standard if you are just sitting to glass.

I've never used the Lite but I don't see any upside to it. You save .8oz for 40% less down and it's not significantly more packabale. Go with the regular Grumman.

Did you get the regular? Fit normally or big? Ive been reading they fit big and Im leaning towards a large but there is no where to try them on near me

I used the lite for years. I ran it over other base layers in the Alaska range every year, loved it. One year my son and I got poured on for hours because we were pinned down by sheep, finally made it to spike camp then we had a blizzard with high wind. I shivered for a couple hours. That off season I bought the Grumman down, guarantee I will not regret it next time im kozy warm in an August blizzard. It only adds .8 oz and takes just a little more pack realestate,
