I have my eye on the Approach to use as a day pack but how small is this thing really? Can it fit a days worth of gear? I.e. headlamp, puffy, gloves, snacks, minimal first aid, knives, game bags, water, and a few other miscellaneous items? Anyone have first hand experience?

I like their new Avail and Kiowa also but want to stay as minimal as possible

Any input is appreciated.

Yeah, no problem fitting that gear. You might even be able to get all that gear and a spotter, depending on exactly how much space your puffy gear takes up and the size/number of game bags, etc. I find it easier to just carry my water in a 3L bladder sandwiched between my bag and frame.

I use the Approach and like the minimal weight. I was able to fit everything I needed for a day hunt in it. I added the access bag this past year to give myself a bit more room for my kill kit, lunch etc., and that has worked great for me.

I’m just like Mosby. Normally don’t take my access bag, but will add it for rain gear and water filter if needed. If I don’t need those I have more than enough room. It’s a really nice size. Especially if you have belt pouches on the frame as well.
