How did you mount the Picatinny rail? Did you drill in from the top an install T-nut for a machine screw, drill a hole and use threaded screw from the bottom, or other? I have VG stock and an SRS Pic/Arca rail to install and am evaluating which method to use.

I drilled a hole right through for a No.10 machine screw at the back, then counter bored the inlet for a nyloc nut. The front, I had to counter bore the hole in the rail to seat the sling stud a little deeper & then simply used that with its original nut.

mine is certainly on the first run for the left handers and weights 22 oz with limbsaver recoil pad and ti lug bedded in. i kept the carbon natural looks. i used it on a 308 but not keeping. the tikka t3x works good enough for me.

Very much so, yes! I had the vertical grip on the factory stock & much preferred it for all shooting positions. The trigger reach on the Stocky's is a little longer, but I have average sized hands & don't find it to be an issue.

I bought mine in plain, unfinished carbon & did my own paint.

I have the VG as well. Love it for the price especially. I find comb height is sufficient. I do need to add some texture. I ordered in bare carbon and painted myself. Bare carbon is typically a very fast turnaround. Paint is what adds a ton of waiting time.

Not the standard but I have 2 of the VG hunters on tikkas. Great fit and finish.

I just ordered a standard grip for a Tikka 7-08, but its a few weeks out. Can let you know when it turns up. I will say Kim has been great to deal with over there.

I've been shooting one of the "classic" grip models for Tikka with Lite barrel inlet for a while. It's a good stock for offhand shooting and hunting where someone won't be shooting from prone. Free float is even and fairly close. Stock is stiff enough that I can't make the barrel touch. I think mine weighs 21.5 oz with recoil lug so it's pretty light. With a .308 stainless Lite ba, UM Low rings, UM level, and a S&B 1.5-6x42 Klassic it's just a few oz's over 7 lbs.

I think it's the best stock for the $ if someone is focused on light weight and wants a "classic" styled stock.

I have the classic spotter model with Light barrel channel. The clearance is tight but functional since the stock has no flex. The bottom metal inlet however isn’t perfect. After this season, I will contact stockys and see what they can do about.

Has anybody bought that ultralight tikka stock from stockys? Not the vertical grip one but the more traditional one that they say is 21oz?

If so, how do you like it? What barrel profile did you buy it for? Can you post some pics?

I’m thinking of getting one but wondering if I should get the wider barrel channel for one of the alpine/rough text models even though I just have a standard barrel.

Thanks.
I have a stockys on my howa. Probably similar Would you want pics of that ?

My buddy has the more traditional stockys carbon stock. He likes it but he needed a cheek riser to get a good cheek weld

Only if you have time, I don’t want to make you did anything out. I’d just be curious to see the fit to your action, barrel channel etc.

Ill get you a pic shortly. funny enough for the barrel profile i have i had to widen the barrel channel. Rifle is 7 pounds without can. I would recommend getting a blem. It’s much cheaper and you’ll ding the rifle up anyway
