I am wondering if anyone else bought a Stocky's Stock having a rough finish. I bought a plain carbon finished stock a month ago. because the hydro-dipped options were, and still are not, available in the particular make/model I wanted.
The style and design I really like but the finished caught me by surprise. When emailing Stocky's back, with pictures, their reply was the carbon stocks come that way. Disappointed, I worked at the stock to see if some of the blemishes could be removed.
After searching online for sponge painting ideas there were pictures of plain carbon Stocky's stocks that appeared flawless and one a poster was complaining about their stock that did not look that bad to me.
Below are the photos I sent to Stocky's and how it was received when shipped. The scratches I managed to sand out. Some of the blemishes could not be removed at all. The unevenness at the top and bottom seam I managed to get fairly flat, but it does not look good after removing so much carbon fiber to get it flat. Some areas were so uneven there was no carbon fiber material left after sanding.
What do you guys think? Did anyone receive a carbon stock like this and was told that's the way they come?
Stocky's is not as pricey as others, but I was not expecting this type of finish. Am I being too fussy?
