Stocky’s Hunter VG Tikka stock

I’ll have to look at the colors when I get home, but basically a Brownish, an FDE, and a light gray are the three colors. I used torn apart sea sponges and a matte clear over the top. Didn’t do any degreasing.

Just ordered a Hunter VG for a 260AI Tikka build. Not sure if I read every post so I could’ve missed it, but has Stocky’s resolved the long trigger reach issue with these stocks?

No but it’s an extremely easily remedied issue if you have an hour of spare time to put towards it.

Just call them, seems weird people keep asking for discounts on a forum… maybe that’s just me

Weird, I don’t know. I can’t be the only person that hates calling large companies and working through phone trees (maybe stockys doesn’t have one….). Also, it seems like the people who make decisions on sale prices run their social media platforms too. Can’t help but think their interaction and participation on this thread have helped their sales.

If you email them, it's usually Kim that gets back to you. And she gets back pretty quick. By quick, I mean I had an email response in exactly one minute after asking about the backorder lead time on the stock I ordered.

I just got a NextGen purchased. Once my Tikka gets back from the gunsmith i'll take it to the range and see how it shoots. This will be my first experience with a vertical grip. Fingers crossed I wont need to modify the grip!

@Stockys, thank you for the good customer service and ease of ordering.

I got my replacement stockys this week (original one had an inletting issue with the recoil lug being inset too far) the lug on this one is MUCH tighter, I had to tap it in with a rubber hammer. Hopefully it isn’t too tight. I may have to send it off to be bedded though. The inlet around specifically the tang is pretty rough (tool marks and you can see frayed carbon/hairs sticking up. I don’t have enough rounds on this rifle to see if it’s causing any accuracy issues, but it’s shooting factory 147 eldm (6.5 prc) at about an inch and a half or so. Same with 130 CX. It’s a chopped tikka barrel, so I expected better accuracy. I already drilled it for a Spartan bipod insert, which is my own fault for now verifying every piece of fitment outside of the lug prior to altering the stock. It feels good otherwise. Some grip and foreend texture would be a welcome addition.

What exactly is the issue with the bedding other than it not being pretty near the tang?

I bet that if use extra fine wet/dry paper, maybe 800ish grit, to knock the hairs and junk that sticks up off, and you crank the action bolt torque to 65inlb, it will do just as well as bedded.

That’s definitely the plan as of right now is just to try to clean it up a bit, crank and shoot it. If I can’t get it to shoot it will probably get bedded. Granted, after playing with a peak 44 today, it may just get sold if it won’t shoot lol. Stockys makes a great product though, I doubt it will be an issue

Has anybody installed flush cups in theirs? Particularly interested if there is enough material in the forend to install one? I had a vg2 and there was no problem but the vg hunter looks like it may be thinner

I finally got my rifle back from the gunsmith and had time to put the stock on. The bottom metal inlet took quite a bit of work to get both the stock and lumley bottom metal to sit properly. I also noticed that the bottom metal does not sit flush with the stock. Other photos of bottom metal from this thread also appear to not sit flush.

I got the sporter contour barrel channel and it’s a tight fit. I checked and it’s free floated all the way to the receiver. Overall I think it looks pretty good and the final weight, as pictured is, 8.4lbs.

What is everyone torquing their action screws to? I have them at 45 lbs currently.
