Still-Hunting Big Bucks

I'm going to start playing around with more still hunting here in NW Montana. We've got the right terrain and season dates to make it fruitful I think
you do and probably why once in while someone tags a real whooper and we all think "...but Washington?"

I grew up still hunting blacktails in November.
The encounters were close and intense. I learned from my Dad who would make hunt plans and send me off. Connected many times and shot my biggest one at 50 yds.

I used these techniques on Whitetail and Mule deer and have taken a 150 whitey and a 185 muley in timber going slow over the years.
It’s a different game, but if they are in there you need to get stuck in and hunt like a cat!

heck ya man, that's why I mentioned Blacktail hunters in my book--this stuff is natural for you guys

and this: "....The encounters were close and intense." describes it perfectly

how far was your shot on the muley and whitey?

Always easier to sneak up on em if all the deer can smell is Marlboro Reds and Natty Lights. Ups success rate by 50%.
