Start a club in the Ozarks?

Guys, thought I had chimed in on this, but I'm in Tulsa and would be willing to join up for a meetup. More of an archery guy, but could be persuaded to bring a rifle along, or pistols or whatever. Looks like all of my out of state fall hunting plans have fallen through as well. so def have time this fall/late summer.

Our rifle range goes to ~700 yards. Depending on the date my neighbor's range starts at 650 and goes to ~1500 now. We will have the 1 mile target set up by Sept.

Okay, suppose I just say that the first (un)official meeting of the Ozark Outdoor Organization, aka the OOO, will convene at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 20th, 2025, at Table Rock State Park just south of Branson, MO. If we rent the pavilion, we can BBQ. It's cheap enough that I'll pay for it myself if we get enough folks. I need to know how many would commit to being there. If you see this post and you plan on attending, please let me know either here or in a PM. If that day or location doesn't work for very many guys then I'll pick another date/place.

Thats the first weekend of bear season in Arkansas. Ain't no way I am missing that weekend. It is also the first weekend of archery deer in Missouri.

I know, Doc. It doesn't seem like there is ever a good time. I hate to think that I may have to wait until spring. Thanks again for volunteering your place. I may still take you up on it, it just depends on how everything shakes out.

OK, guys, I have come up with 3 options for our 1st meeting:

1. Saturday 8/30 - Labor Day weekend - at Pilsner's place near Pettigrew, AR.
2. Saturday evening 9/20 at the Seville Hotel in Harrison, AR.
3. Saturday 9/27 at Table Rock State Park near Branson, MO.

The 1st and 3rd options would be an afternoon potluck BBQ type gathering. At Pilsner's we could even have a little shooting match if we so desired. Option 2 would be an evening cocktail and finger food type affair (but you won't have to dress up).

I will post this in the general discussion forum and send out a batch of PMs as well. If you can commit to any of these times and places, please respond here or send me a message. If I can't get at least 10 guys to commit I will probably wait until January when most hunting seasons are over and then revisit this.

It's frustrating that I was motivated to start this club because I can't find anyone to hunt and fish with, but now folks don't want to commit because they are all busy hunting. Seems like you just can't win sometimes. But I certainly don't blame anyone for going hunting.

Anyway, let me know if you can make it. If not, have a great fall, and maybe we'll discuss this again in a few months.
