The real question is "how much do you tip when you are really dissatisfied with the service provided". It's happened to me more than once.

As the owner /outfitter I am uncomfortable taking tips if I guide. I certainly never expect one. Some guides Think they always deserve a tip. Not the type of people I care to hire.

This "customary tipping" stuff is crazy. I just don't participate in the industries that want to be like that, if all the restaurants and guides went out of business it wouldn't bother me. Could get a fresh start.
