Standard Gratuity for 1 day hunt.

The real question is "how much do you tip when you are really dissatisfied with the service provided". It's happened to me more than once.

As the owner /outfitter I am uncomfortable taking tips if I guide. I certainly never expect one. Some guides Think they always deserve a tip. Not the type of people I care to hire.

This "customary tipping" stuff is crazy. I just don't participate in the industries that want to be like that, if all the restaurants and guides went out of business it wouldn't bother me. Could get a fresh start.

How about your barber or your letter carrier? :D

Tipping like taxes can really make your head spin if you let yourself think about it too much. When the conversation about tipping comes up I always think about our teachers/coaches that spend the amount of time they do with our kids and teaching/developing them and their way underpaid if not volunteering but yet we never tip them?? why do we tip some stranger at a restaurant that spends a few minutes serving us?
In regards to the OP, my opinion is it matters how the experience goes for you. Be prepared to give a tip or even possibly a gift because if the experience is top notch and the person/people serving you goes above and beyond to make you feel like you would want to tip them or give them something to remember you.

You’re paying 3000 per day to hunt these critters? If guide isn’t the outfitter then I stand by what I said because my hourly pay as a guide sucks. Some outfitters won’t take tips so maybe your gratuity is included.
I'm sorry I just saw this reply. Yes. The hunt for a single day is $2400 for 2 does, or about $4000 for a larger buck and 1 doe. Shelling out 20% for that seems incredibly high. But I guess it is what it is.
