Lived here for 19 yrs and it's a great place to raise a family and provides quick access to all of the outdoor opportunity you could ask for with the ability to earn a family living wage. Love it.

My buddy and his girlfriend moved to Athol , ID from Tahoe about 3 years ago. He makes a fair wage, bought 20 acres that he has successfully hunted deer on, and he loves it. Shortly after he arrived there he sent me a photo of his CA license plate with a bunch of bullet holes he shot in it . My buddy has no kids so I'm not sure about that angle. I have never been there BUT that exact area is on my list to scope out.

I live in spirit lake area which is about 15 min from Athol... I love it and have acerage that backs up to property I can access for hunting or whatever all the way to WA.. There is great areas outside of Athol and if it was me it would be east of i95 at the base of the CDa mtns.. Schools not real great but there are options with charters and more specialized schools.. Let me know what questions you may have we made the move from WA to here 5 years ago and I can say i have not once said wished I still lived in WA... Nice to start hunting August 30 and not end tell dec 23 with a couple weeks you can't.. Not to mention great fishing and other outdoor activities..

Best to take some time and just hang out over there. It's a beautiful area and has a lot of great opportunities there.
I have friends in Hayden Lake and in CdA and love visiting there.
If I ever moved it is on the top of my list for areas to consider.

I love the spokane/CDA area. We make special trips a few times a year to shop at black sheep sporting goods. When powder and bullets were on a bigger shortage a few years ago they always had what we needed in stock. Plus there's other great shopping and eating close by

Ha ha this thread made me join up on rok slide, didn't know their so many guys on this site from this area. I've lived here for 16yrs, moved here from Ca. and haven't regretted the move yet. Short drive to where I can hunt and camp, good outdoor stores, black sheep, cabalas,
buck knives plus the other outdoor stores in Spokane. I live in post falls so it puts me in the middle of all the stores. Houser lake is 5 min.
from my house but spirit lake is my go to one, prettiest lake around here.

you know when you start getting these responses people are guarding something special...

thank you all for the input..

Yep it is special up here and it is really crowded so we just can't say anything positive.

Just kidding, it is great and you won't regret it.

Love this post.

My family and I are moving from central NoDak next Spring/ Summer to the CDA area. Not sure where we will end up. Post Falls, Rathdrum, CDA area.

Very excited to have so many outdoor activities!!
