Spine Aligned shafts?

Can anyone tell me exactly what spine aligned means? Should this mark be aligned a certain way? Up, towards the riser, away from it?
First victory arrows I’ve tried and not much on their website other than marketing hype statements.
Thanks!

The theory is that if you index your arrows such that the spine of the arrow is in the same position on every arrow, every arrow will exit the bow in the same manner.

in my opinion, the theory doesn’t hold true for every arrow. I agree, it is best to nock tune/group your arrows, without worrying about spine location.

some guys think you should do this before fletching, others after, I’ve done it both ways. technology in arrows is good these days, I tend to fletch, and then nock tune, but I use one color for vanes, and always 4 or 6 fletch, giving me lots of opportunity to get the best flight out of each arrow.

I used to spine index. If you have a spine tester you can roll the shaft until you find the weak or stiff side, different arrows in the past I found to have a spot that they were either weak or stiff. Depends on how they were manufactured. You marked that spot and oriented it the same on each arrow. Since learning to nock tune it hasn't seemed to be as effective. Now I simply bareshaft each shaft turning the nock til I get the same impact from each shaft, then I mark the up side of the arrow and put my cock vane there. Tho I usually shoot all the same color fletching, but I orient the nock so my mark is in the same spot as when I nock tuned the bareshafts.

Haven't shot victory in 10 years, might be the mark is accurate.

About the most committed response I've ever got from experienced archers is the spine lines are, "close." Some like Kyle from DC custom arrows says they don't correlate at all to the true spine. I tend to believe they are totally marketing hype. I shot Vaps when I ran Valkyrie and I still had to treat them like an unmarked shaft. That being said I would like them up the same if I were fletching them. This will give you a reference point if you do nock tune.

They are marking static spine, which isn't as effective as the dynamic spine indexing you will see when nock tuning thru paper.

Most people you talk to with spine testers would say they are just throwing a random mark on the shaft. Victory and Carbon Express are both marketing fiction. The three spines in one shaft is probably the biggest lie in archery.

Been indexing arrows for a few years and haven't had to turn a nock since. Maybe we've gotten lucky, but I'm a believer.
