Speed vs Weight For Hunting, Which Do You Prefer?

Both! I reload every centerfire I shoot. My reloads, particularly my hunting loads, are at least 3,000 fps with every bullet weight. I use 117 gr Sierras in my 25-06 loads that chronograph @ 3115. My 30-06 with a 150 gr Sierra are at 3080. My .300 Wby is loaded with a 180gr Nosler Partition and is 3220.

As a follow up, I should have put in the original post, 140 is also Berger, obviously the 156 is a Berger. Both shoot around .75, so that is a moot point. 140 is cheaper, that's about the only difference.

Flip a coin, it's not going to matter under 500y.

I would do the 140 for less recoil.

It won’t matter though.

I like heavy for caliber going slower. Personal preference. Although the new Hornady ELD-VT bullet has me intrigued.
