Up for sale is an original Peabody Spanish model rifle made during the Franco-Prussian war and seized when France lost the war. It is in excellent shape for an 1870 built rifle and appears used very little or not at all. Has the marking on the receiver and barrel showing it was proofed by the Germans. I purchased the rifle in 43 Spanish but sent to John Taylor, of Taylor Machine in Idaho, where he relined and chambered it to 45-70 Government. The 45-70 is a lot cheaper than the 43 Spanish round, however, I never got around to firing the rifle. It has been hanging on the wall for years and it is time to get it to someone who will shoot and enjoy it. Case colors and blue are very good to excellent, as is the wood. Some handling marks on the wood and metal, but nothing major. Comes with the Peabody tool and a leather sling.

I can ship directly to the buyer, as it was built before 1898, for $1600. No electronic payments or trades and Lay-A-Way is available. Contact me with any questions and thanks for looking.
