has anyone used 308 on black bear by chance?

Certainly have, and many more recovered and helped skin working with a local outfitter. It was always a relief when a client pulled out a familiar .308 or similar deer rifle instead of a shiny new magnum or worse a .45-70. Your favorite deer load will get the job done.

Loaded 10 to test. Put 8 on paper and bange a piece of steel I have out at 500 with the last two.
One was a little harder to seat and had stiff bolt lift…
