I will be headed to a unit for elk in September in south west Colorado, I’ve never been there before and am curious what are some must haves for vehicle trails there? And what the terrain is like on the roads…

I will be bringing my 2004 tundra 4x4, 2in lift 33in tires, winch on the front..

Anything I need to be throwing in my truck for the trip besides basic recovery gear, first aid and tools?

Will be there late September for 2 weeks

Bring rain if you can, it’s DRY out here. You are more than covered otherwise. 5-10 gallons of extra water in the truck.

I hunt units 70 & 71 fairly regularly. Flat tires are fairly common from the dirt roads. Last time out I had an internal separation too. My advice is an extra spare tire!

The ability to (quickly) air down and air back up again is the single best way to stack the odds in your favor of avoiding getting stuck, having a flat and avoiding component failure such as a broken tye rod etc.
