What are your guys thoughts on social media and sharing of hunting photos and stories? How much do you share?

I go back and forth. Sometimes I will share stories and pics of a hunt and other times I decide not to. I guess sometimes I get weirded out by how much people could know about you and "think" they know about you.

I have friends who share every little thing whether on Facebook or on hunting forumns. And I have other friend on the opposite end of the spectrum who never share a photo anywhere. You would never know the guy is a skilled hunter. Nothing wrong either way.

Where do you stand?

Go back and forth myself. Maybe a few scenery pictures and the occasional success photos. But no big posts. Share more on FB than on hunting forums, honestly it seems like there is less judgmental pushback. Enjoy seeing pictures my friends post of things they're doing too. I guess maybe I'm just shy.

I tend to keep it to myself, cause I feel that people get jealous. Not because I'm some great hunter, but because I hunt a lot and travel as much as I can. It seems that people then tend to think that make a lot more $ than what I really do. When hunting is the ONLY thing I spend it on.

No Facebook ! I don't post under my real name but it isn't a secret if you read my posts but if someone was to Google me I don't come up under my posting. Not really trying to be super secret but just keeps my life more compartmentalized. You can count on a HR person to Google you and the less they find the better. They may be anti hunting and round file your application without you ever knowing why. I work for myself and still do anything that could be controversial under a fictitious name. Don't put anything on Facebook you wouldn't want your current or future employer or future inlaws to see. Just think of the famous people who have run their careers into a ditch with one ill considered tweet or Facebook pic. It happens thousands of times a day when someone doesn't get hired or promoted because of their social media postings. Most never know how they killed their chances.

I like to post some pics from hunting season on Fb every year. Sometimes they are scenery, or camp/family pics and every once in awhile I even get to post a trophy pic. I have had a few people make negative comments but I just try to use the opportunity to educate the ignorant. I always like seeing my "friends" hunting stuff too.

Don't have facebook, twitter or any of that. I will post a few photos of the hunt, I will rarely post hero shots if ever. If I ever shoot something really special that may change but I doubt it.

And dotman was wondering why you werent in our 2013 demo reel lol

I'm 50/50 I like sharing pics but not all of them. Jealousy seems to be fairly prevalent in our sport especially towards guys who are successful year in and year out. I do post more on facebook than internet forums when I do post.

I like sharing but only what I wish others to see. Scenery pics I keep to a minimum so as to not give away to much info on where I am hunting.

I detest Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and all the rest of that ridiculous nonsense. I think people are sharing way too much personal information with the world, and I believe it will become a major issue in the future. Rokslide is the the place I share the most, but like Shrek, I use a handle. I'm not trying to keep may name a secret, but I don't want all my personal feelings that I my share with you guys coming up on an internet search of my name.

Me too!

I don't post much on Facebook. Some people are close friends and family. Some are people I used to know that I'd like to keep some semblance of contact with. Some I know socially but aren't what I'd call close friends. I'm just kind of a private person. I will say I won't post pictures of dead animals. My mom wouldn't want to see those pictures let alone other people.

The only thing I post on FB is hunting related really. Not too worried about the ill effects of SN but then again maybe I should...

shared once because i kinda got talked into it afterwards I felt like I was just saying look at me!!!! look at me!! But i'm kinda torn because I enjoy seeing others pics and stories so I guess I should input mine too. Kind of a catch 22
