Historically it seems like it's a bit of an anomaly, for Denver anyways. Looking at the records of snow fall.

I just can't imagine getting that level of snow in 1913, had to stick around for a while.

13 of the 25 shown on that list were from March and April. That's better than 50% of the largest storms Denver has seen.

Six of the storms on that all-time list were from my "historical" younger years.......times I remember very well from all the snow "we used to get" growing up.......and I didn't grow up in Denver. I've been in the Springs now the past 16 years and haven't seen what I would call a "really good storm" in that time. We only got about 8" from this storm. I can remember many storms by the time I turned 20 (1985) having to use the tractor to clear 2+ feet of snow.

Seven inches of heavy wet snow in eastern South Dakota. Had ice first. Schools closed. Melting quick!

You are correct on the April and March.

I was intending and did a poor job to point out that we often remember things differently than they were, I remember regular snows as a kid. Likely from the fact it was unusual and a snowy day turned more memories than a regular drab day of winter.

I think the fact that 6 of the 25 storms listed in a twenty year period and two of them fell in the same winter, it was likely a time period out of the ordinary. That's 24% of the storms in 14% of the time period. Likely making not so much a figment of imagination, but just the fact that you were in that period that was significantly snowier. I'm as much surprised that they have only had 10 snows above 20" in 140 years, I do forget how dry that area is tho.

Maybe it will be a shift to a few years of increased spring snowfall.

I'll admit the spring storms aren't as much of an anomaly as I first thought looking it over.
It's also not like I looked it up to fact check, just happened to be something a friend in greater Foco had just sent me.
