WTB So how to buy on this forum

Just wondering how to buy larger $ items on this classified? Would like to but nervous about buying something that is 2k. Does PAYPAL really protect you if the item isn’t sent? NOT A FIREARM

How long have they been on forum

What else have they sold OR tried to sell

Message someone that appears to have bought something from them

FaceTime to see item live

Ask for name and address in private message and google them to see if that matches up.

PayPal goods and services has a fee of about 3% of the transaction and “should” protect you but you need to read about that protection directly from PayPal site.

FaceTime/video call the seller and ask to see the product. I have been scammed before using Friends and Family (not through Rokslide), but now I always use Goods and Services, even if I have to pay the extra 3.5%. I’ve never had to pursue action against a seller, but I’ve read that PayPal is good about helping the buyer.

Chat on the phone/video to see item and check their feedback on here. Pretty good system of vetting if you do your diligence as a buyer

Here are my top 5 tips for buying from any forum.

1. Pick people that post to the forum regularly, daily is best and have thousands of post.

2. If you can buy from someone who lives in your area and agree to meet somewhere.

3. Know that how the individual describes the item, will probably be BS. It will probably not be in the same condition.

4. Do not send anything PayPal friends and family.

5. A personal check offers a slosh of protection but not full protection. There is tremendous risk in any online transaction.

Reputable sellers are the #1 thing to look for. Users that regularly trade high value items are unlikely to tarnish their reputations.
