Man, what a pathetic loser, no offense. haha

I blew 5 points on a montana archery tag that was somewhere around 75% draw with 0 points before I realized what I did. That made me feel really cool.

Ughhh...That is rough. If you've been applying for any given amount of time you're bound to make a mistake eventually. I usually apply for deer, elk, antelope and MSG all at the same time and it's easy to lose focus when you're trying to decide between units and finalize your research right before you apply. Sometimes it's enough to make your head swim and you goof up. Sorry to hear about your luck. That really sucks!

Thanks for the positivity guys. I didnt purchase point guard because I figured if I drew a bull tag, I'd make it work as I only have 4 points. I didnt plan on myself making that mistake. Its been a super busy app season and I obviously just slipped. Glad it was only 4 (technically 2 because I have hunters ed and loyalty). I more was just kicking myself as I apply all over the west each year and have never had an error. I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. Great lesson to triple check your apps.

That being said, I am actually pumped on the ability to hunt 3C. Number seem good and its an incredible unit from what I hear. Nothing to do but move forward and I am certainly going to make the bet of it.

Why on earth would anyone not purchase point guard for 5 dollars? Don’t be bummed you’re going elk hunting!

I wasnt planning on being an idiot and putting in for the wrong hunt lol. I figured if I drew the bull tag I would just go. Was a hail mary. Thanks for the positivity though as I am going to shoot the fattest dang cow I can find.

An old man told me once, “It’s difficult to maintain perspective in the moment after stubbing your toe.”

I get your frustration and that you might be inclined to beat yourself up over the mistake.

But... if that’s the worst mistake you ever make, you’re doing pretty good.

Don’t make another by going into the hunt still pissed at yourself. Find a way to shake it off. Amp yourself up with the positive aspects.

One of my funnest hunts was on a cow tag. Saw more bulls than I ever had before. I hope you have a blast!

I’m not going to hold you or wipe your tears like the younger fellas do now days but its Arizona man !! you need to write down your choices then double check them every day for a week before putting in !! 4 points gone that will back you up big time not to mention if NR that’s $650

When I lived in AZ I only put in for cow hunts because I would rather hunt elk 9 out of 10 years vs 1 out of ten if I put in for bull. It is funny how your expectations change. When was on a cow hunt it was cool to see a bull, but my heart rate never changed. When I found some cows it was game on! As an added bonus, you will probably never put in for an unintended tag again.

No tear wiping. More like, “Rub some dirt in it and shake it off. Don’t make it worse by dwelling on it.”

Of course, I’ve never made a mistake in my life that I’d like to punch myself over. My opinion is only hypothetical, not based on personal experience. You?

Exactly my thoughts. I was bummed last night but am now looking forward and honestly looking forward to it.

I would be a little upset about the points and time if I could of had another hunt lined up. With that being said I have went on some great elk hunts and killed some nice bulls. But the two elk hunts I probably enjoyed the most were both cow hunts. One I killed a cow while my little boy was with me. And the other was last year when he killed his first cow.

Well, I don’t get to go hunting at all this year, and didn’t get to go last year. If you want, I will happily trade spots with you. All you have to do is be the Chief Engineer of a warship while it home port shifts to Japan, and I’ll go antlerless elk hunting in Arizona.

Perspective man. I’m working on it too, and it helps a lot. Congrats on the tag and being able to go!
