As the title suggests, I am attempting to determine if the $50 is worth it.

Does the extra real-estate make a difference when running a rear bag?Screenshot 2024-04-23 104846.png

Absolutely
Without it the point of the buttstock digs into the bag and isn’t as stable. With the rider it is easier to keep the buttstock stable on the bag.

Even on the normal XLR stocks I feel like a bag rider is needed. Have added it to both of mine. I want to get a carbon like you have pictured, and I would think a bag rider would be essential in that small of an area.

I would like to see a slightly longer one, with a slight upward angle to it. I feel the xlr one is too small. But it’s the only option out there so I run it.

Upward angle means vertical shift under recoil as it tracks the bag. You want a bag rider that's same angle as the forend. Flat. After shooting many different config of bag riders, I have no idea why angled are even produced.

Im okay with the flat aspect. Was just thinking similar to a stock, so you’ve got some adjustment while on a bag. Mostly I want a little more length, and I sure wish it was more comfortable while using a tripod rear as a rest

The skeleton smoke buttstock is an ultralight, and unfortunately has its trade offs and short comings. If you bring an xlr bag rider to someone with a 3d printer, I'm certain they could make you something in the dimensions you desire. I had a friend make me a bag rider for a mdt hnt26. Turned out well, but it's not as rigid as a normal rifle stock. These light weight chassis are purpose built systems, with definite limitations.
