I’ve been dialing in carrying a smaller fixed blade. Won’t go back to a folder. Figured out real quick the devil’s in the details with sheaths. You’ve certainly got the only correct answer for which clip to use on your pocket sheath.

I’ve settled on a fixed blade ~6” OAL with a 3 finger grip, horizontal on the belt. Any longer and it has to go clutter up a front pocket to disappear.

I've been using an L.T. Wright Frontier first in O1 for the last 6 months or so. The steel is satisfactory but marks and corrodes easily. The knife is meant as a mini bushcrafter but it performs just alright at skinning tasks. Mine has skinned two feet and a handful of small game animals. They're well built, just maybe not meant for someone that's going to be processing animals as much as I am.
95% of what I make is 0-1. I etch mine as you can see to aid in the patina process and blend the marks you’re talking about in. Builds character. A little more care nut 0-1 is great.

Maybe force patina yours ??

What does your sheath look like? I’d be interesting in trying a horizontal carry but then it adds some problems also. I appendix carry and the belt will be problematic for myself I think. Curious what has been working for you.

It’s something I rigged up at home, be easy on me because I am a Kydex novice. A simple 1.5” webbing fixed belt loop. It works excellent with AIWB just to the left of the belt buckle:

Also works blade edge up to the right of the belt buckle if I’m IWB behind the hip. This allows for a support side reverse grip if I’m ever in a gtfo me situation:

I’d like to experiment with making something that has some wedge built into the blade side, because right now the blade lays flat against the belt and pushes out the thicker handle. Not a big issue because of how short the knife is overall. And of course, handle flatter to the belt might make it harder to get in and out. Right now I can reach up under an untucked shirt get it in/out without lifting the shirt up and showing the world my belly.
