There are plenty on Federal SR match primers available around me, and I am going to use them in a 6.5 creedmoor. I have read there is hesitation taking them down to low temps. My question is has anyone tested this down to some lower temps. Say 10 degrees. I have some large rifle primers I can use for hunting and take the small rifle primers out for practice if low temps are an issue with small rifle primers.

Thanks!

See the thread below. I’ve left a clip out overnight at around 20 below and then shot it. It is common and I routinely hunt around +/-0.

Thanks for the input. I’m going to be using H4350 with this, but the regular small rifle primers and not the magnum small rifle primers. I picked some up so I will give it a go. Maybe kill do some testing with it and report back.

And thanks for the thread link. I’ll read through that!

With H4350 you're probably good. Seems easy enough to avoid any question and use LRP for hunting so that's what I do but if a guy doesn't have LRP brass i wouldn't be too worried about it. IIRC 205s are pretty high on SRP spectrum for how much spark they put out.

Thanks Wind Gypsy. How do they compare to CCI450s spark wise? Any advantage to CCI450 over Fed 205s?

In small rifle primers you might try Remington 7 1/2’s. They have a rep as the hottest of the SRP’s.

You're better off googling it because Im going off memory from old forum posts showing comparisons. There was some good stuff with spark images IIRC on accurate shooter years ago. Rem 7.5s were tops IIRC, cant remember how 450 and 205s stacked up.

Never an issue with lapua brass in 6.5 cm, using h4350.

Have had hang fires in 22cm and 6cm using srp and h4350. With alpha and lapua brass.

Cci450 for all of the above.

Srp, strong case head, primer pockets stay tight, easy to find srp, what I use for match use.

LRP, better ignition in the cold. I used to say the same thing, srp were fine, but then it happened, and happened enough that I use LRP for my hunting ammo if it’s going to be cold. LRP also seem to handle pressure better.
