Sitka's New Timberline Jacket

I just got mine a few days ago and it'll be in my pack. I really think it'll take the place of my 90% and my Jetstream.

I have had it out for around 20 days so far scouting and hunting. It has handled all rain and snow as well as a rain jacket. I keep saying it will replace my rain jacket but the Dewpoint breathes so dam well when moving and weighs nothing its hard to not bring it. This jacket cuts the wind completely and as far as i can tell is waterproof. I am not sure i have tried a better soft shell. This Jacket was made to be a bombproof shell and it is.

How is this different from the Sitka Windshirt?

The Contrail? WAY beefier, and an actual Windstopper membrane and has a light softshell outter and some grid insulation in the shoulders. Much, much more substantial garment than the Contrail.

Went to 1 shot gear to see this. Really impressed I would describe as a hybrid softshell, rain jacket. They didn't recommend it for pnw type rain but its perfect for most of the mountain west. Hard to describe the fabric but looking at the jetstream hanging next to it you can tell its not a typical softshell. Very quiet for what it is also seam taped which you usually don't find in a softshell. Think of it as the jetstream lite with a hood and more water resistant.

I've been taking my new Timberline Jacket out on my backpack hunts this year and I'm loving it. Glassing on exposed ridgelines at 11,000 ft in the early morning and late evening with the wind, I'm perfectly comfortable in this piece. Keeps the wind at bay, weighs hardly anything, and I don't find it to be overly noisy at all. Has earned it's place in my pack already.

Other than cow elk tags, season is just about over for me and this jacket performed unbelievably well for me this year.

Definitely a jacket I will not be without and will always have in my pack. Love it !!!

I'm backpack hunting in SW Montana & Wyoming, early to mid season archery. Weight is critical, been looking for a single jacket system for a while now. Could this be it?? How has it held up after a year of use? If a guy can combine the soft shell & rain jacket into one multipurpose system, it doesn't even have to be all that light, you still get ahead in weight. If it's raining heavy (which doesn't happen often here) I'm in a shelter. Would this be enough for those afternoon squalls/light snow? In a perfect world I'd buy the dewpoint also, just for the insurance, but I don't have that much disposable income.

I was a big fan of the 90% when Sitka updated it a few years ago. I've had the Timberline jacket for quite a while now and its quickly became one of my favorite pieces. So much so, I doubt I will use the 90% much going forward. I usually run a size M, but opted for a size L. It fits me well in a L.

I wish they made it in a Solid color.. Great windstopper and even sheds a light rain fall. My hunting buddies, having seen it, have the jacket on their upgrade list.

It sheds a light rain, have not used in damp snow fall, but worked good in a cold / dry snow fall (20* vs 33* snowfall).

How quiet is it? I need absolutely silent apparel for bow hunting. My Dewpoint and Kelvins are not quiet. Come in Subalpine? I can't find it.

I got the timberline jacket a few weeks ago and really like it. I haven't been able to test it much but it should be a winner!
