Sitka or Skre

Looking for a new coat. Trying to decide on a USED Sitka Jetstream or NEW Skre Hardscrabble. Any thoughts?

If it’s to block wind then Jetstream or KUIU Axis. Hardscrabble might do ok in the wind I just haven’t used it. Both of the others block wind great.

The hardscrabble does a good job at blocking the wind. The Jetstream has a wind blocking membrane added between the fabric facing and the fleece lined.

How about rain / snow? Is there any debatable difference?

I own both, and personally I like the Hardscrabble better. The Skre just seems like it fits me better and has pockets and the vents in the right places.

Both are great jackets, but the Jetstream Jacket definitely wins from a technical standpoint. The Gore Windstopper laminated used in the Jetstream Jacket is an ePTFE (expanded polytetrafluorethylene) laminate, which is essentially the same technology used in fully waterproof GoreTex. The only difference between Windstopper and GoreTex is the size of the mircopores in the laminate. Windstopper features larger pores which makes the laminate more breathable. Although Windstopper is not entirely waterproof, it is highly water resistant. This means that the Jetstream Jacket is not only going to keep you comfortable in wind, it should also keep you dry in light to mild rain storms and snow storms while providing higher breath-ability than a rain jacket. If you are looking for a versatile outer layer that provides protection from most weather than the Jetstream Jacket is the way to go!
