Merino Base, Kelvin Lite puffy and Cloudburst jacket for me. I hate softshells, its either full Gore Tex storm protection or Outdoor Research zip layer to keep heat in and the wind off me. The kelvin lite puffy is getting ditched for a WM Flight Puffy that's much lighter, packs smaller and is warmer.

Does that degree of variation happen radically within a week or does it just depend on the weather trend at the time?

Yes. It can go from too hot to too cold and vice versa easily within a week. Heck, we can have a difference in highs or lows of 30 degrees from one day to the next.

Jetstream for me. I'm not a hood guy, but it is nice to have on my shell layer. Have the Lite as well for warmer times of year. I'm a big fan of Windstopper.

Jetstream for me. In fact I just ordered a new one in moss for daily use. Great all around jacket, especially in the west where 30 degree temp swings are common.
