I don’t think sock questions are silly at all. I’d sooner scrimp on food than on socks. With normal footwear, I take 3 pairs of wool socks total (including the ones I’m wearing), and enough thin liner socks to change those each day. If forced, I could get by with two pairs of the wool ones. If all I had were rubber muck boots, I think my feet would be wet all week. Those boots are pretty hard to dry out overnight. This depends on how much walking is done, of course. We hunted in stocking foot waders last year, but mostly stayed near camp and called. I could dry those out ok . The little wood stove helped with that.
