Interesting failure point for sure. A little more concerning if someone is shooting off to the side of you when that goes off compared to half of the suppressor flying down range.

Yeah glad the shrapnel didn’t kiss a human on its way into orbit, never found it. Violent recoil though, rifle tried to jump out of my grip and off the table. Can’t wait for January when I pick up my Airlocks.

I still don’t quite understand why they won’t buy these back instead of simply replacing them. Seems like more liability than a company should want to continue shouldering
Because, according to the idiots at SiCo, the shooters affected by these exploding cans are idiots too, as they always blame it on shooter error.

I've often wondered how they can consistently blame the problem on improper use when repeatedly people on this thread state they were never asked any questions about it. The can was just repaired and returned. If they aren't actually asking questions when a can fails, how can they blame the user? Makes it feel even more like a cop out. You'd think they'd want to know if it was really user error or if they have a problem they should be figuring out. Feels more like sticking their head in the sand and hoping it goes away.

My Scythe sheared at the 2nd weld (closest to barrel) same as many others. Repaired weld is twice as thick as the original. Failure was from 7PRC 22 inch barrel. I will not be putting the Scythe back on any magnum but will continue using on my 30-06 20 inch barrel and cross my fingers it holds up.

Don’t ask questions you don’t want the answer to. Just patch it up, send it back and play dumb. Plausible deniability. Hope word spreads quietly and the cans start getting treated gently and it’s water under the bridge after they get their printing tech on line. I assume.

These cans aren't printed......

I’m aware. I was alluding to these being forgotten once SiCo moves on fully to printing.
Okay got ya. I hate the fact SiCo is taking a turn your back position on this. Someone is going to get hurt. When this happens, I hope they get drug through the mud and class action lawsuit follows for any/all Scythe-Ti failures.

That is a way more disturbing failure than the others I’ve seen. Makes me not want to set up next to anyone shooting one at the range or be anywhere but behind the one friend I have that owns one.
I was thinking depending on where the tear started that piece could come back and slice up someone standing behind too.

Yes. I’ve stated repeatedly for a reason- catastrophic failure of a suppressor for any reason is really, really bad. It is functionally a pipe bomb on the end of your rifle, and people think it’s cool to go “super, extreme lightweight” as if you aren’t trading massive safety margins for it. Even using a suppressor in a way it isn’t meant for- say a short barrel 5.56 AR15 and doing rapid fire; the can should not have a catastrophic failure. Baffle wear is fine, cans coming apart, end caps breaking on one piece designs, baffles bending or having extreme tearing or pieces missing: all are very, very bad.

Unfortunately hunters and shooters are ignorant and want to believe in magic. I predict that we will see more and more failures of new cans as people race to the bottom for weight, even with, or maybe especially with printed cans.
