Direct thread plus I babied my suppressor. Knowing its history always let it cool 3 minutes or so between shots but still blew up.Out of curiosity and not sure it makes a difference but how many of you are running qd muzzle brakes under your scythe or just direct thread? Mine is still chugging along on a 22” 6.5 prc and wonder if the brake is making a difference in longevity.
Joined to mark this post for personal reference.I've been trying to stay out of this one... I liked my lightweight little scythe-ti...
But alas, mine went kaboom today.
It's had 500 or so rounds of 223rem/5.56 through it (16 inch barrel), and 50 or so 22 creedmoor (18 inch barrel). All factory ammo.
All bolt action, never more than 3 rounds at a time before it has a chance to cool.
Today was 22 creedmoor, and it went on the 7th round after about 30 minutes since the 6th shot.
No baffle strike.
Serial number just above 2500
22cm has less case capacity than a 243. Although I would probably guess the 22cm has a high muzzle VS the 243 depending on load/powder type.Joined to mark this post for personal reference.
Mine has been living uneventfully with light use on a 243 with 24" barrel. 22 creed has slightly more powder volume than the 243. I'm going to baby this can until it pops or SilencerCo issues a recall.
Silencerco sent me a brand new can. Four day turn around time. Never received an email or phone call from customer service though.Just had a Scythe TI catastrophic failure.
SN. SYT30- 33XXX
300 PRC 24" barrel.
Lapua brass, Berger 210, N570 CCI 250
Direct thread only, with only 283 rounds through it.
Rifle is used for hunting. It's only ever seen three round groups and allowed to cool everytime.
Ambient temp was 60F.
Surprised how thin the TI walls of the can body are. Was more surprised when 2/3 of the can flew 75 yards. Thought my rifle blew up.
I wonder if folks are babying them like me to avoid the hassle.Multiple weeks without another pop posted. Go go Scythe!
What happens if im out hunting and it fails? What if I cannot find the half that flew off into the woods? Send them just the portion left on the end of the barrel?I wonder if folks are babying them like me to avoid the hassle.
Mine are on 223s now.
How much n570? I’ve got 81.6gr in mine… a bit scared to use it after reading all this, as it’s coated to match my rifle.Silencerco sent me a brand new can. Four day turn around time. Never received an email or phone call from customer service though.

Nice one.You have multiple scythes? I’m sorry but thank you for showing me the positive side of only having 1…
