SilencerCo Scythe Ti failures

Scythe Ti owners: Have you had a Scythe Ti catastrophic failure?

Hmmmm. Wonder if the actual failure rate is under the stated 1%? Still more than I care for, but likely much less than some on here think. Again, most likely the vast majority of shooters will not put 500 rds thru theirs in 10 years. 😆

8.3 onces (scythe) to 9.8 tbac 7

And tbac wants a 22" barrel in a big magnum.
I wonder how many of those people complaining about 1.5oz could lose 15lbs…that’s probably for another thread though.

And while TBAC does recommend 22” for “big magnums”, they also list 18” for 300 win mag which is nice.

The ultra 7 is still one of the best silencers on the market, much better than a scythe.

Paying attention to weight on the end of a rifle is important.

I think the Ultra 7 is a bit outdated these days. It’s longer, heavier, and louder than many newer alternatives.

I can’t tell the difference personally. In fact just last night I was out shooting and couldn’t tell a noticeable difference between 2 more or less identical rifles (same model, same scope, same barrel length) one with the ultra 7 on it the other with the to xc on it, the ti xc even has a rearden end cap so it’s similar in weight to the scythe.

I know some people like to overthink things but for the life of me, I couldn’t tell a difference between the 2. That being said, I’m sure if I had a heavier silencer, maybe 14-15oz, I could tell a difference. Or maybe if my barrels were longer putting the weight farther from me? But with 8lb rifles with 18” barrels, I can’t feel an ounce.

The ultra 7 is still who guys are chasing, and have been, and have just recently caught up. That’s my view on it

I have a hand full of suppressors and when it comes down to it I have zero complaints with the ultra 7. The only can I really want to try that could replace it would be that new OG.

The Ultra 7 is still a good baseline, but I think the current generation has a few competitors who have surpassed it. I am sure TBAC will improve it down the road.

All these numbers are small percentages and largely hogwash, especially considering the noise the sonic crack makes.

If we want to compare to a 9” larger suppressor there’s a difference but even then the crack can be loud depending on environment.

I am hoping to hear good things from the gen 2 OG because currently that’s the only suppressor I would even consider replacing my U7s with. And that’s already having larger cans at my disposal.

There’s always going to be new designs. The improvement are so incremental though at this point I’m in no rush to upgrade. If the OG becomes available on capital armory I’ll get one, until then I’m all set.

Had a failure with the Scythe Ti this afternoon. Took my son out to let him shoot the 7PRC and the first shot related in the failed. He was scoped pretty good and we had to glue him up. If I could get a refund or have the $$ put towards another suppressor type I would but it sounds like that won’t be an option.

1. Customer 7 PRC 120 rounds down the barrel.

2. Barrel length: 22”

3. 180 grain Hornady ELDM hand loads

4. Loaded 2 grains under max load recs

5. Details of failure: Split at 3rd weld from rear of silencer

I hate lawsuits, but frankly this is the “closest” I’ve been to wanting to be a part of one. The platform here would help that process. You have a semi-legit reason now….get it rolling, we will all jump on!

I sadly wish I was kidding.
