Anyone had a Harvester evo go poof? Thought early in this thread there was mention of it.
When I bought my Thunderbeast I wanted a second can for my kid at a cheaper price. Kinda dumb. Scheels was running a sale that day. Impulse bought the Harvester Evo. I usually let the tism loose and research stuff before I buy.

I emailed Silencer Co about using it on a 16.5" 22 or 6 creed. They said it'll be fine.... So far on the 6.5 Creed it's been good. But I know that short 22 will be asking a lot of it.

I used to think of it in terms of more overbore being harder on cans but I dont think it necessarily works that way.

If you load a 22 creed to the same pressure as a 6.5 creed, x PSI across the volume of a 6.5 bore is going to exhibit more force on a can than the same PSI across the volume of a 22 bore. Might be something to more unburned powder in short barreled overbored rifle but I dont think a 22 creed will be harder on a can than a 6.5 creed in the same barrel length.

How many of the “yes” votes do you guys think joined RS because their scythe failed and this thread was linked everywhere a discussion of scythes takes place?

Regardless of that when dozens of failures of a given suppressor start being reported (regardless if they flock to the same place to report it) that stands out imho. The failure rate might be "in line" for sico but its not inline with what we all expect. Dozens become a trend as cans see more volume of shooting (vs sitting in safes), something that has happened with the scythe and other brand/models too.

Here and there folks pop brand X cans apart, usually when not following barrel restrictions (when they are provided) but not always but its one here and there to be an anomaly not dozens.

I only do a box through a bolt gun the day before my opener. And im good out to 1600 yards.

I suspect a good chunk of the owners would have had them warrantied and moved on with life, not bothering to write about it.

I’ve used a harvester evo on a 24” 300 prc, 22” 30-06, 22” 6 creed and it’s still in one piece.

Perfect. Next year I'll probably buy an UM Reaper. Just not in the cards this year.

Mine failed in August 24, 2024. To their credit, SilencerCo paid shipping both ways and turned it around in two days.

1. Cartridge or cartridges used with approximate round count

About 150 rounds of 28 Nosler. Maybe 30 rounds of 30-06.

2. Barrel length

26" on the 28 Nosler, 22" on the 30-06.

3. Factory ammo, hand loads or both

Mix of both but mostly hand loads.

4. Details of ammunition

28 Nosler loaded with 160 gr. Nosler Accubonds over a charge of Reloder 26 and a Fed 215 primer. I'll have to look up the exact charge when I get home. 30-06 was Barnes factory VOR-TX with 180 gr TTSX.

5. Details of failure (to include failure point and pics)

Weld failed between first and second baffle. Larger part of can launched about 100 yards down range. Took me a while to find it. Thankfully no damage to my Gunwerks rifle.

And one would have to also wonder how many failures haven't been reported on this thread because they never heard of rokslide or just sent them in for warranty and moved on?

They haven’t shared that. They stick with “well under 1%.” Which is understandable given the current lawsuit(s) pending.

This happened a few weeks ago the day before my 2025 sheep hunt.

It was not a bullet strike.
1. Careful inspection with a bore scope reveals no impact marks.
2. The bullet fired at time of failure impacted inside existing grouping on a ten inch plate at 587 yards.

Rifle: 6.5 PRC.
This suppressor has only been used on the same 6.5 PRC.
Zermatt Ti SA. Proof Carbon 24”.

Load:
58 gr. H1000.
CCI 200 primer.
143 gr. ELD-X
Lapua brass, fired 4 times.
Case trim length: 2.015” (SAAMI)
COL: 2.955” (SAAMI)

Total round count through this suppressor: 696 rounds.

There’s not many. But the folks that think this is normal or within acceptable tolerance are crazy (respectfully ).

How many other suppressors do we all own collectively. There’s been nothing like this I’ve seen. Even if the scythe is the best selling can on the market (it should be btw outside these issues), there are way too many failures.

When someone says their scythe failed on facebook/gram/reddit/another forum, this thread is immediately linked and a nudge is given to "go report it on the rokslide poll". Nobody is telling everyone who owns a scythe to sign up on rokslide and report that it hasn't blown up like they do for the failing ones. 3 of the last 5 failure posts have been someone's first post on rokslide.

Yeah, i see zero reason to buy a scythe now. Too many good alternatives.

They will continue to sell a pile of them though. Capitol armory or SS will recommend them if you call and ask for input. Box stores like Scheels will sell a bunch of them.
