What is the purpose of the athletic tape all over the rokslide/S2HU rifles? See it on the barrels and scopes of it seems like every one.

To put over the muzzle or suppressor end cap to prevent debris/rain/etc from entering.

Doubles as field first aid, I've used some tape i had on the barrel for blisters before :)

Scope Tape: (Masking Tape)
- reticle focus is taped to prevent turning
- parallax knob is marked where it actually works after being verified which is different than the manufacturer label
- info on the bell is what load the rifle is zero'd for and where the turrets sit at zero (rev and position) so if you put it away for a while there's no doubt when its go time again as well as if you're shooting 2 different loads that info can be placed in this area as well
- I also added a piece that shows round count that I change every time I open a new case of ammo.

It’s funny. Those who think there isn’t a problem (think this is the minority), I can’t think of another suppressor where multiple folks are claiming more than one failure of the same product. That is crazy.

100% an issue. Still waiting for them to figure it out.

I emailed them for the heck of it. They politely and kinda full of crap after like it wasn’t a problem. I guess it doesn’t hurt anything for people to send emails. Doubt it will help but we’ve obviously all got an extra few minutes throughout the day or week. Like I’ve said before mine lives on a 223 so I’m not worried about it but you should be able to use it on whatever you want to as long as it’s within their specs.

I know six people whose Scythes have exploded. Combine all the other suppressors on the market, and I don’t know six people whose suppressors have exploded. So, yes, that’s a significant problem.

I say that, and mine is still intact. Make it make sense....

Mine too. So strange. I’m shooting a heavy magnum in 20” too. Should be part of the stats.

so if the scythe is the " almost the prefect can " but has a 1% failure problem.

What are some other similar options for a cans ?

I currently have and use a tbac 5 and like it. I am just looking for something like the scythe ti that can remove a little of the push I get with the TBAC 5

Or I can just move to a 6CM barrel for my tbac 5 can

So I got a reply from SiCo about my can. They did not turn the can around as quickly this time and apparently, the engineers have been looking closely at it as this is my second time back. The guy at SiCo who has been emailing me says they have a new batch of baffles that are currently undergoing stress testing. Once they have completed this, they will use that batch to reassemble my suppressor and send it back.

It sounds to me like they have a "fix" in the way of more robust baffles. As to whether or not this is going to weigh more or if they are changing the baffle specs for all of them, I have no idea. I'm honestly encouraged by this and won't hesitate to keep shooting on my regular schedule.

I thought the TBAC 5 wasn’t hearing safe? Say what you will about the Scythe, at least it does a good job of suppressing.

I’m using my Scythe on my 18” bolt action 6.5 Grendel. I love it in that role. No issues, yet.

looking at what TBAC shows on reported sound levels the TBAC 5 is right at or just under the threshold of 140 db. From what my understanding is the cut off for being considered hearing safe.

I am really interested in the scythe ti, but just a little hesitant on buying one. However it would not problayly see heavy use because just for a hunting rifle.

I do wonder if people are not cleaning there cans regularly and with shorter barrel rifle getting some unburnt powder builds up in the can which could be adding to the failure problems. I know some don't thing you need to clean your cans or guns on this forum, but it's probably not going to hurt things. Just a thought

I had the same thought about unburnt powder from short-barreled magnums, but I don’t have any knowledge of that. Some of these cans have reportedly blown up on 6.5 CM.

I am not going to suggest that anyone buy the Scythe Ti, but I will keep shooting mine on my CZ. It is just so fun and handy.

I wouldn't say they are "exploding"...more like "baffle liberation" :p

I do note that there haven't been any reports here of third failure. And it sounds like they are at least coming out of the denial phase and looking to make the can more robust (if what Cliffy says is true).

That being said, I'm limiting my Scythe to 6XC and .223

Similar options is what I'm investigating too. Have searched extensively on the Slide and I see several that are well liked, but curious for any new/additional responses.

I like the performance of my Scythe , but I don't trust it so I'm considering the OG, AB Raptor 8, DD Enticer S Ti, or OCL Hydrogen S. Jolene S comes up quite a bit too.

Looking hard at the OG, but seeing some varying reports comparing it to the Scythe, so I'm torn and might go in another direction. But it seems like a great can and concept.

I was dead set on a DD Enticer S-Ti until I read multiple reports of them being really "tinny" sounding in comparison and decided not to. I'm really happy with my Nomad Ti and have shot it a bunch without earpro hunting and had no issues for a couple shots, and I have really bad tinnitus. I have the OG and Jolene S as well but didn't want to pull the can off my primary setup during the CBC and the rifles they're for are still at the smith. If I get time over the next weekend or 2 I'll try to get out and do some comparing so I can give feedback on those.

Thanks, and additional feedback would be awesome.

I like the B&T Ranger on my 6.5 CM but I don't have a Scythe to compare it to and it doesn't have a changeable cap on it. 7.5 oz and sounds comparable to other good suppressors from what I can tell so far.

I got a Nomad XC TI that cleared yesterday but my FFL is being weird so not sure when I’ll get it in my hands. It should be quieter than the scythe (which I own too) though (volume game).

That would be a nice option.

Enticer STi is also very good and same weight.

The only thing in the sub 6” range though is the scythe and banish backcountry. Both have reports of being quieter than the ultra 5.

Abel theorem S is 5.7", solid can. It's not super quiet but has a good tone. Idk if it's hearing safe with the new brake cap I installed.
