Silencer Central is doing a free $200 tax stamp right now and I'm wondering if the Banish Backcountry is a decent first suppressor? I'll be using it mainly for my 6.5 CM and I might put it on my 556 etc for fun. I'm looking for anyone who owns it or has used one etc.

Look up reviews of other members on here using the search feature. There's way more bang for your buck getting the AB A 10. While its a bit heavier it is a couple hundred bucks cheaper and is legitimately hearing safe.

I've read everything from the search bar and some people like it and others suggest different cans. I was also looking at the dead air ti xc, it'll cost a bit more. Wasn't sure if it was worth it decibel wise.

I have two banish backcountry suppressors and my dad has one. They are short and light. On the suppressor summit they have metered well, but to my sensitive ears they are quite loud on 280AI and 30-06. I would suggest the tiXC over the backcountry for a first suppressor

Might want to read up on these. I have a DA Nomad TI and AB A-10 7.62 (latter at the recommendation of many from this site). If I had those recommendations earlier I wouldn’t have spent nearly double on the Nomad TI as my first can.

Thanks for these, I did read most of these posts and I was curious if anything has changed since then. I didn't see that they are lobbying against removing suppressors from NFA. Looks like I'll give silencer shop a call and buy the nomad ti xc. Thank you.

I have 2 SC Backcountries. I’m a fan of them. I use them on several different rifles but mainly on a 16” 6.5 creed and a 16” 6.5 saum

They are the shortest and lightest cans I could find when I made the decision to get them which was critical to me.

Yes the SC ordering process is different and the wait after approval can be frustrating. But the benefits of ordering thru SC made it worth it to me

YMMV

My mileage does vary. My hearing is MORE critical to me than an inch and a couple ounces......

AND, I'll gladly give up those minor penalties for the pleasure of NOT having to deal with Silencer Central. At all....

I have 2 of their cans, super easy process. last one took 9 days. my first Banish 30 took awhile, but that was before e-file was available.

I have a banish backcountry and a nomad ti xc. To me me the backcountry is a nice little suppressor. Light and short, seems like a decent reduction in sound. I bought it first, the nomad was next, and if I did it again I would get the nomad instead of the backcountry. Not a big difference in weight or length compared to the difference in sound to my ears. I didn’t have any issues with silencer central when I bought the backcountry. I think I was just over month from starting paperwork to having suppressor in hand.

I have the full sized banish 30. It’s the only silencer I’ve ever used but I couldn’t ask for more. I have no issues shooting without ear protection

I am happy with mine. Used on everything from 5.56 to 300PRC.
Especially useful when weight is a concern like hunting from a blind or tree stand or NRL matches where there are weight classes.
Shooting with it in open areas I have not noticed any issues with it being hearing safe. However, I have no way of measuring that hearing safe claim other than to say it isnt loud enough to activate the noise shut off on my hearing aids.

I would recommend checking out pew science. They compare suppressors based on a standardized system. Even the longer version of the standard banish, ranks middle to bottom third of the pack. They don’t have the information for the backcountry on there yet, but imagine it would have worse suppression. And for the price, I would avoid that and look at some of the better ranked ones. Best of luck.

Here’s the comparison tool I used which lead me to the diligent defense Enticer S-TI, which would still come in cheaper than the backcountry without the tax stamp.

From what I’ve read and experienced buying for silencer central. The backcountry sounds like a decent can but having to deal with silencer central is worse than the ATF these days.

Silencer central is sort of a pain in the ass but the last time I bought a silencer from them is was 21 days from the time I clicked “pay” and had it on my door step. I’ve used them a bunch because there’s no dealers where I live. I have not used them though since their whole thing supporting the atf/nfa or whatever all that was.

When I bought my banish 30. It was 21 days from ATF approval to LEO notice. Then another week after that. 6 months in total.

I have a backcountry and wish I bought something else. It is light, but it is not very quiet or worth the money in my mind. I like the Scythe Ti far better (although certainly durability concerns and my TBAC 7 as well). Silencer shop also has a tax stamp sale on cgs Hyperion k which I believe is a far better suppressor and one I wish I got instead of the backcountry.

Sample of 1, but a friend had one come apart shooting a 7 rem. Mag. Looked very similar to the Scythe failures.

How long ago was that? I’ve bought all of my silencers from silencer central, the first one was like 15 months towards the end of the paper form era. Next 2 took 200 days, next one was 99 days and the last one was 21 days.
