Just got a pair of these and looking to make a custom ballistic profiles. First issue - the BDX app i just downloaded does not have the 109 ELDm profile available. The Sig app i have for my old kilo 2400 ABS does have this profile. What gives? the new shit has less bullets than the old shit? Anyone know how to update AB library in the BDX app?

Edit: closing app and reopening downloaded the missing profiles.

I've had two problems with the BDX app since launch but they've been resolved.

1. It wouldn't let me dick around with custom profiles unless I was connected to the binos. I like tinkering and playing what if a bunch.

2. Upon opening it would immediately crash.

Luckily neither have been in the field and I haven't had an issue with the software in over 2 months.

Well what do you think of them man? I've been a big proponent of them and think the "blue tint" is a non issue now. I absolutely love mine. Can't wait to get them out in the field this weekend instead of just using them at matches.

This was my first time with AB stuff and I learned that if I put in my average velocity over 10 shots I was good to about 400. I adjust velocity at 600 to true that and then adjust BC to match my actual results at 1k yds. Doing that over a few rifles now and that has worked well for each one. Not sure if my last batch of Dtacs were extra sleek but I had to adjust the BC up quite a bit.

I have been running the 2nd gen since late summer and all fall.I have used the gen 1 quite a bit in past. Glass from 1 to 2 is night and day. My hunting partner has 3200 and we can’t tell a difference between the two. Couple mins at twilight going to the Leicas.
Ballistics are amazing with the sigs.
I have not been disappointed, other than wishing I could get the ballistics in a pair of NL glass. 😋

They are nice, am not sure where they’ll land in the big scheme of my optics use. My hunt was short this week and was always close to the truck so I had 12x50 ELs and the 10k on me while glassing. The ELs definitely were still better for glassing. Low light performance and just the bigger sweet spot made me feel like I’d miss them if I only had the kilos. The kilos aren’t bad though.. kind of wish I had more than one day hunting to compare. Regardless, they’ll be hard to get rid of now for NRL matches.

Did you use the custom curves? Anytime I thought something was off inside 700 yards with an AB profile it ended up being my velocities changing a bit or some up/down drafts.

I feel like they're a great balance of everything you need. Glass isn't top tier but it's good enough. The rangefinding shines in my eyes, and I just hope they hold up.

So I'm a bit of a newb when it comes to AB. I don't have a Kestrel to run with it because I didn't feel like that was the most efficient process. I run a stand alone wind meter and input wind.

I setup my cartridge profiles in the BDX app and start with the predefined bullet stats for whatever I'm shooting. I go as far as entering sight height and plan to use the velocity/temp chart to help it compensate for swings.

As far as custom curves, the only other thing I've seen in the bullet library are the PDM profiles. From what I understand that's when guys shoot and its measured by AB at events. To me it only looks like it changes the BC. I'm unsure on how to input a custom curve as I don't see that as an option.

Another thing I've wondered is why there isn't a DA and temp field for the initial setup. Not sure how it compensates if it doesn't have a baseline.

Are there other fields that I've looked over to help customize it to my rifle/bullet? I've setup 5 profiles and 2 have been very close, both being Bergers. 215s and 108s. The rest have been 6mm ELDMs and I've had to tweak quite a bit.

By custom curve I mean choosing custom curve rather than g1 or g7 BC at this point:

Doesn’t surprise me that the Bergers line up better I guess. Come to think of it most every thing I’ve ever shot longer was mostly Berger’s and JLKs so maybe there is something to that..

I’m loving my gen2 Kilos so far…I also have always used Custom Curve even on my 2400 ABS. I currently am trying BaseMap app & dropping pins with SIG technology. So far I have found when I arrive to my hunting location I need to recalibrate the compass to get accurate pin placement…is anyone else experiencing similar issues…?? Overall I’m having a hard time switching from Onx to BaseMap. I did figure out how to tranfer all my OnX pins to BaseMap successfully. I’m gonna make an honest effort to do some WiFi downloads of my area on BaseMap & attempt to have a better experience next trip.

The glass on the Gen2 Kilos is nice, but I feel it’s lacking a bit on the first & last 10 minutes of daylight if I’m gonna be totally honest.

I typicallly blaze right through that and stick with G7. How does that functionality work with the bdx app? If I select custom curve it just says "1.000 CC". I didn't see it open up any other fields to edit. I'll have to read up on it. Not sure what it uses as a baseline but it does produce a curve with a range card for use.

Edit: I see that it calculates super, trans, and subsonic BCs for that specific bullet. What is the best practice with this? Is this typically more accurate than using an adjustable BC? Im sure there's gotta be some variation. Is it advised to only adjust velocity for any corrections?

Custom curve is ABs full drag model for a given bullet so BC adjusts with velocity. That is the best baseline to start with. 1.0 is the generic value they give it because it isn’t a constant bc. I’ve just left it alone and had good results with Bergers and JLKs. Works good for hornady thus far as well but with a much smaller and shorter range sample size.
