Sig Oscar 6 HDX Pro Stabilized Spotting Scope Tested and Reviewed

I would like to know if it is capable of making a clear read of mirage to read wind speed and direction at max magnification. I am the novice student on this subject. I know enough to be made fun of in public.

The Oscar 6 has enough magnification to read mirage in most conditions.

if you are a high alpine mule deer hunter would you rather have the Oscar or go with a Swaro ATS 20-60x65?

When do you prefer to use that over a standard tripod/spotting scope set up?

There are a number of scenarios where the stabilization was appreciated, but my favorites were:

1. Glassing from a vehicle.

2. Sharing one tripod with a partner, and glassing while the partner shoots off the tripod.

3. Glassing on a lightweight tripod in heavy winds.

It would probably be pretty useful to scan long range country quickly as well

Backfire guy with the honest review. I feel like this is what happened to me with the HDX Pro binos - Influencers get cherry-picked units with great glass, but actual off-the-shelf units have trash glass.

No, I was more referring to the typical Youtubers that sell these or drop discount codes. I'm wondering if the early units were held to higher specs on glass for reviews, then Sig dumps the crap glass.

I sent my HDX Pros in for warranty they were so bad, but I was told "They meet spec."

I see.

I have found that generally there is an understanding that Stabilized Sig optics have useful stabilization that can situationally overcome their optical compromises compared to the non-stabilized competition.

The Sig Oscar fits this understanding.
