This will be the baseline thread for updates on the performance between these two rangefinders. My evaluation will primarily revolve around functionality before any of the features- ranging, cold weather performance, etc.

If there are any specific questions or things that someone would like me to look at or compare, ask here.

First update:

New batteries for both. 9° this morning when I woke up. Both rangefinders were left outside overnight- the low was somewhere around 0°.

The integrated cover on the Revic is a good idea-

When I started-

The Revic had no issues ranging the hill-

The Sig could not no matter how many times I tried, nor could it range one at 900’ish.

Second update:

Some info- where I am right now I can range out to a bit past 1,300 yards. Pretty much continuous from 900-1,340’ish. Also from 0-500’ish. Not much between 500-900 right here.

Negative 10-12° F last night. Somewhere around 0° this morning when checked. Both RF’s showed low batteries. The Revic ranged out past 1,300 yards without issues. I could only get 500’ish out of the Sig. Put a brand new battery from the house in the Sig-

No change. And interestingly, even with a brand new battery, the Sig is reading half battery life-

Then put the dead battery from the Sig in the Revic, the Revic ranged past 1,300 without problems.

When it comes to cold soaked performance, there’s a lot of things stated that just don’t hold up when checked. For instance- “the difference is in a cold battery, put a fresh battery in and it’ll work”. Sometimes that is it, and yes cold will run a battery down faster. However, there ARE differences in the RF’s themselves that enable one rangefinder to work in cold much better than another regardless of battery warmth.

After an hour in the house at 77°, the Sig will now range some pine and fir trees about 1 in 15-20 times from mid 900’s to about 1200.

Is the integrated cover on the Revic easily removable without damage? Good idea, but can see it being a hassle in certain situations.

Love the cold soak tests! Nice work!

Nice! I was planning on doing a side by side of my 2400abs vs my revic br4. Looking forward to seeing more of these results.

Looks like it’s just a pin that could be drifted out holding it at the bottom.

Was it foggy out like it looks in the pics or clear? I’m assuming it’s clear out and it’s just the digiscoped pics.

Why the revic doesn’t auto dim is the one feature that was a complete flop. You shouldn’t have to change the brightness throughout the day on your own… not on a 1300 dollar piece of equipment In 2022. Other then that it appears to be well thought out.

Maybe. However it actually working when the other doesn’t would seem to me to be a larger point.

Forsure. I have 2 of the 2400 abs’s and have ran them hard in lots of snow and cold weather with zero issues. Maybe upgrading isn’t worth it for either. Woulda expected better from both. Look forward to more testing from ya.

The Sigs have been very hit or miss for me. That’s across a lot of them. Generally they work ok for a year or two and then random issues start happening.

Very interesting. Great test. Do you have any plans for a water test (simulation of rain etc.)?
