I think you have that mixed up. Lots of guys here that do their own. What good is the love for hunting if you're not enjoying both sides of it?

I think we've all been guilty of getting some processing done for time's sake but that shouldn't take away from the overall experience. Although, I do find it more fulfilling if I'm munching on some snack sticks or any other product that I made myself.

When you just quote my reply and not what I was speaking to it's a little misleading. I didnt mean any disrespect or make assumptions people here don't make their own meat. What I was replying to was bullet performance caliber choice and shot placement....for food sake. One comment was made about for food and killing/hunitng and my reply before that was all my killing is with food in mind too. The point was I don't have one bullet(or caliber) for hunting and another for killing. It's one in the same to me. Like I said I have them ordered and I'm excited to try them. I'll use them and if they don't seem to work. for me I'll use what does. I fully expect if I don't shoot them in the meat they won't destroy the meat. I mentioned that too. Again what that post I made was replying to was the if I was shooting food statements since I always am. Like I said I'm always interested in the ways other people do theirs. I was wrong to assume its not important here.

I think the distinction is something like this:

You’ll see Form and others reference “killing” bullets. These 116s are lethal, as in, they’re great bullets to kill with. For example, great choice in culling environment. In that use case, a bullet favoring DRT/Maximum carnage makes sense. Are those animals being used for meat also? Probably in some cases at least, but that’s not really the goal.

Very different scenario from many guys, who have a couple tags each year in the western states. If they’re going to eat wild game all year, they may be relying on an elk and a deer or two. Which means if they put one of these 116s through the front shoulders of an animal, it could legitimately leave a hole in the freezer. I know many guys who fall into this category. They’re doing great to kill an elk and a deer on OTC tags every year.

That’s why I said originally that for many guys, the “food” hunts and the “fun/trophy” hunts are the same thing. For those guys, finding a bullet sits somewhere around “adequate killing wound channel” might be more desirable than “horrific cannonball wound”

I understand that. If I shoot a few deer and loose some shoulder meat I can shoot some more deer to more than make up for it. I guess not everyone has that opportunity. Thanks

I’m anxious to see what the .25 cal offerings produce. Looks like no tracking needed.

I have some of the new unspecified heavyweight 25cal TMKs on order. I do deer culls during the summer. My gunsmith has my 25 creed on its way to my house now, so I hope to have load dev done by late April(assuming the bullets are in hand by then), and we'll start shooting does in late May or June
