Sierra Heavy TMK 6MM Testing

Shooting 12x ten round groups (120 shots), from 4 different 8-9 +/- pound all up rifles, with three different bullets, with zero load work up done- middle of the road powder charge and dump it, seat boattail at neck/shoulder, and shoot; with the largest 10 round group being 1.2 MOA- and that’s disappointing?

That’s not counting IIRC 27 of 29 total shots across four days that hit a 14.5” tall target at 985 yards, 1,005 yards, and 1,025 yards.
You were tasked with testing a bullet, why not do a bit of load development?
Not being critical but I’m genuinely interested in seeing the accuracy potential of these bullets.

These guys are trying to help find usability for the masses. Testing temperamentality and consistency across different platforms is more important given the limitations for guys from here.

The sample sizes and scale of operation for these guys to run down load development would be too much. And be very barrel and elevation dependent.

? I don’t know how you come to that conclusion. None of my groups are worked up loads at all. They are middle of the road safe and just loaded.

The only thing that I have checked so far is:

1). Are they finicky to load, sensitive to seating depth, etc. (like the 95gr TMK)

2). BC.
Reading too much into it w out all the information, curious if/where the trade off between speed/BC will happen with the new line up in 6CM. Different bullets, but pleasantly surprised w the 95 TMK wind # , where I'm hitting 1800fps, and minimal recoil. My 109 ELD is carrying speed further that my 112MB load in the 6CM. It's all ballistic masturbation as differences are neglible out to 800 yards, as you said other attributes will matter more.

I was tasked? Haha. Ok.

Making sure that they are not a finicky bullet, is what has been tested by me so far. Any decent bullet can be made to shoot, that was never a worry.

But you didn’t address the main point- do you actually think that 120 rounds from 4 different rifles and 3 different bullets where the worst 10 round group is 1.2 MOA is “disappointing”? I have never seen anyone shoot 8lb rifles for 120 rounds anywhere close to that on demand.

There are multiple 10-20 round sub MOA groups from comp rifles on here.

18” 6cm’s are +/- 2,825fps MV with safe loads. It’s a monster of a bullet at 2,800fps. At that, out of the 18” 6x45mm going 2,400fps it is crazy good with nearly a 600 yard 1,800fps impact range.

I have a 20" 6 Creedmoor barrel being made right now. It will be going on a long action so I'll have more flexibility with seating depth. Very curious what performance I can get with a 115-117 TMK

I guess to have some confidence in a new product, some folks need to see a few statistically irrelevant, cherry picked, 3 shot sub MOA groups. Just in case the Sierra marketing team forgets to do that on Facebook.

Lol
