Sierra 6mm TMKs Terminal Ballistics Evaluations

Reading the notes it sounds like a lot of meat was destroyed. I get it for some applications, i.e. extremely long range where velocity drops really low. Other than that, I won’t be going the route of soft bullets for hunting. I don’t want explosive terminal performance. I’ve seen the results of Nosler Ballistic Tips and the absolute mess of bloodshot meat. Is a pure match bullet not worse yet? I prefer a well placed hard hunting bullet over hitting an animal with a grenade and wasting a lot of rib and shoulder meat. Your experiences and application may vary.

There are certainly applications for mono and bonded bullets where meat loss is a major factor and engagement distances are closer, ie blacktail deer.

Even past 500 yards at a modest ~2000 fps they’re destroying deer. Eff that. Sounds like a bullet for mangy coyotes with crappy fur rather than something you’d want to eat.IMG_6426.jpeg

It’s not that bad. I’ve killed deer and sheep with 80 ELD-M’s, 88 ELD-M’s, 77 TMK’s and 112 Match Burners. I’ve lost less meat with those, placing them in the lungs, than a 127 LRX through the shoulder, hitting the femur and shattering it.
