Sierra 107 TMK Load Data

Yes, it goes in the neck. A little goes a long way. It’s a graphite, I believe, in a liquid suspension that evaporates quickly.

I use foam q-tips and make sure to get the excess off. One dab will do 10 rounds pretty easy and I just give it a quick wipe.

I’ve tried to refrain as it’s an extra step but in today’s testing it did seem to help
Thanks. Learn something new every day.

Looking for some advice on loading 95 and 107 TMK in a 18” 6 ARC Tikka and choosing between them. I’m thinking a temp stable powder would be ideal since I’ll be hunting high-ish the Cascades in Aug/Sep where temps could range from like 30 F to 100 F. Would love the velocity from Lever but bing swings in velocity might be a dealbreake.

Looks like Sierra recommends XBR for the 95s and Varget for the 107s. Out of my 18” I’m guessing the 95s will be around 2700 fps MV and the 107s around 2500 fps? In that case the 95s would hit 1800 fps around 500 yards and the 107s around 450 yards. 95s also line up perfectly with quick drop and a 0.2 correction. 107s are a bit messier and have a 0.5 correction (1200 DA).

I’m leaning toward the 95s if these numbers end up being accurate once I load some up and shoot them. Do you guys recommend other powders, higher charges, etc? Do my estimated velocities seem right? Wondering if going 95 TMK is the right move here.

My wife's 16" RAR 6 ARC seems to be shooting well with Staball Match and the 107's (not tried the 95's) but I'm still playing with it and I'm new to reloading so it's taking forever.

I too am interested in playing around with the 95 TMKs in the 6 arc. My 20" howa barrel is fast and with H4895, I am around 2750 FPS with 105's...Curious if I could use that charge or even up it slightly and get the 95s to say at least 2850 FPS....

I’d go with Varget or H4895 for temp stable powders that are well matched to 6ARC. LT-30 would be really good too. Not as temp stable as the Hodgdon Extreme powders, but it’s a single base powder and should be fairly stable.
I think you could get 2600+ with the 107 out of an 18” bbl using any of those 3 powders. (Although Tikka barrels are notoriously slow, especially new)

Called Sierra and they suggested in an 18” barrel try the 8208 XBR for both bullets. I’ll post the results here once I get them loaded and chronograph’d. It’s a PVA Osprey barrel so hopefully not inherently slow.

Have you loaded any 6 ARC with the LT-30? I checked the usual sources and don't see any load data for it. I've got a couple lbs I bought way back in Covid era before I even started reloading because it was the only thing on the shelf. It did ok-ish with my 6.8 SPC AR so planned to burn it up in that, but we shoot the 6 ARCs a whole lot right now.

No, just bought some. GRT shows it as one of the best powders in 6ARC and also for some 250 Savage loads I’m working on. Varget and H4895 were both top tier as well. All 3 were 90+% fill, 100% powder burn, great velocity.

I believe this powder was developed for Benchrest shooters in 6PPC which is almost identical to 6ARC.

I wasn’t familiar with LT-30 until this conversation kicked off. Older benchrest powder. Cool! I checked out my Hodgdon manual and they have charges for 6.5grendel at 52kpsi. Charges were in the 24-25gr range.

Bump those pressures up for a bolt action, and it seems like it would be ideal for 6ARC

Varget was about 200fps slower than lever in my 16”, 8208 was 150fps slower. Neither gave me groups worth looking at a second time or bothering to test farther with the 95gr.

Dang. Well I got a pound so we’ll see how this goes haha. What’d you end up going with?
