Sierra 107 TMK Load Data

Finally got out to do some more shooting today with the chronograph. This is a 243 shooting the 107's. See post 136 for the rest of the specs. Chronograph says we are right at 2900 fps and was shooting excellent like the last time. Going to load up some more and run it out to some distance the next time out. No brainer. Not sure what to do with the 95's since the 107's shoot so well.

Gonna see what y’all think. Tried to get the 107s to shoot out of 6arc but really struggling with it. Tried Staball match, 8208xbr, cfe223. Best accuracy has been cfe so far. Max mag length is ~0.090 off lands measured with oal gauge. I’ve shot at max mag length and backed up another 0.050” to test. Just not great accuracy. Has shot factory stuff around an inch in the past. Tried 107s 108eldms and 100 interlocks so far. None have wowed me. Pic below is most recent tmk group with shorter oal. Seems it tries to group but then throws em around too. I’m at the point of taking gun/scope apart and remounting/torquing everything just to make sure. Anybody have thoughts on next to try?

Most rifles shoot 1.5-2 MOA.

Since your still tinkering with loads , definitely tear it down and check everything just so you have peace of mind and dont chase your tail for nothing.

Is there consistency to those outside shots? Possibly due to mirage off the barrel or can? Parallax set correctly?

Just some thoughts.

What barrel length? Just tested my 18" Dasher this past weekend with a 32.5 gr varget and got 2750 just as expected. Think I'm going to settle there. It's hard to make it shoot a bad group, love Dasher.

How far off the lands are you guys running the 107tmk in your dashers? I'm bout to start breaking in a new tube and this bullet with varget or rl15.5 is what I want to run.

I actually tried some 116’s in mine this morning, and it absolutely loved them. But for the 107’s and 116’s, I’m limited by mag length. I’ve set both up for 2.460 COAL. They are jumping quite a bit, but I didn’t write down everything. I think I’m over .120 of jump ha. Dasher don’t care. Shoots little clusters at 100. This morning my first 3 rounds of 116’s were quite nice. Just shot these as a speed ladder to see how it would do working up to same recipe I used for 107’s. No signs of pressure at all. 3rd group sorta bothered me on the stats but then I found out my suppressor was very loose, so I’ll reshoot that one.

I have a 7tw, might give the 116s a go as well. Appreciate the info!

107s are very similar shape to a 105 hybrid. I think I’m .040 off and that’s where I stayed.

116s in a .120fb might require me to run a standard mag, or just jump them a ways.

I also have a 7twist tube in hopefully going to shoot sometime soon, with 116s and varget, in a .120 freebore. I’ll probably post up in the dasher thread what happens

I have a 104 freebore Criterion barrel, bought new but second hand(cheap). 107 and 116 tmk appear to have the same nose, as touch was exact same base to ogive, and same coal of 2.474" touching.

I did my measurements the SAC way, pull barrel, put cartridge in chamber seat deeper till you can extract it with a pinky finger nail, nearly zero resistance.

109 Berger and 109 eldm had same touch BTO numbers as the TMKs so they all must be running a pretty simial nose profile.

Neolube tightened that group up it appears and halved your SD. Neolube is great. Did you try any on the 41.5 load? My 20" 6cm really settled in at 41.0 of H4350. 2900ish and an SD of 9

Yeah, the neolube did help and honestly I was kinda hoping it wouldn’t. I will say on that first 10 shot string I know at least one of them was me. However across all powder charges in this process I’ve had mid teen SD’s. I’m thinking to chalk that up to new brass that I’ve only just ran through a mandrel.

In the 41.5 group, that’s the first group I’ve shot at that charge. I was just trying it out today to see if there were any pressure signs, which there were not.

I plan on next time trying out a couple 10 shot groups with 41.5 and will probably stop there. I’m super happy with this barrel and the way it’s shot everything I’ve put through it.

Am I the only one who hasn’t heard of neolube? Does it go inside necks to aid bullet seating?
Yes, it goes in the neck. A little goes a long way. It’s a graphite, I believe, in a liquid suspension that evaporates quickly.

I use foam q-tips and make sure to get the excess off. One dab will do 10 rounds pretty easy and I just give it a quick wipe.

I’ve tried to refrain as it’s an extra step but in today’s testing it did seem to help
