Shrek's armed camping trip 2015 ;)

Elk right on the edge of the ranch on the other side of the gulch. Not sure if they're on or off but I decided to work up the gulch to the top and work back on their side. Try to get above them if they're on the NF and work down. Two small bulls I could see. Ran into another hunter working down. I hope he doesn't blow them out .

Needed one or two steps ! Bull at eighty yards in timber. Head and vitals behind a tree and bushes with open lane one or two steps ahead. Stands there for a few minutes then spins on a dime and bolts back the way he came. I had the wind but I had come up that way and he must of picked up my old sent in a swirl of wind. 4x4.

I'm pretty sure he's below me in the draw. Within 300 yards. I can hear two groups I think and three cows just came up and over to the next draw. Wind is swirling and trying to figure out how to get into a place I can see.

Moved around the top of the draw to the other side. Didn't find any elk where I thought I would so the three cows may have been the tailing end of the group going over into the ranch. Just had two Muley doe's about step on me. I'm pretty worn out from all the cows and the bull interaction and all the hiking. I've got to give up 650' and then back up the super steep 680' . Really dreading the climb on tired legs.
