@Formidilosus: Is there a thread that documents how to remove them?

(I can only find one other thread on Rokslide that has that term in it ...)

I used a cheapo Walmart Dremel with a cutting bit I bought separately.

You can easily open the channel through that area very neatly too by putting some masking tape on as a guide and using the Dremel.

Probably, but not by me. The last one I did was at the range with a pocket knife. The one before I used a tomahawk. Point being, it doesn’t have to be pretty- just get the barrel free floated.

Thanks folks ... now I just need to find out what the heck a barrel bump is. :)

Look 3’ish inches in front of the receiver. You will see two raised portions in the stock that contact the barrel. If you’ve shot the gun a bit, when you remove the stock you will likely see two corresponding marks on the bottom of the barrel. Remove those bumps and heavily free-float the barrel channel- don’t be shy here, a barrel that gets intermittent contact is way worse than one with full contact.

Load work up for 60 tmk in my factory barreled 223. 8 shot work up, picked a charge I liked the velocity of and loaded 10 rounds. Checked to see what it would do. This won’t hold me back sub 300 for anything I plan to shoot with the 60 tmk. 2 clicks down one click left from my 77tmk load. Time to go kill some predators. Mirage over the snow probably didn’t help me much either.

Same gun, same ammo, 2 minutes later. This time I shot at an orange dot sticker and could see my crosshairs on the dot. 100yds, prone with bipod and rear sandbag. (I peeled the sticker off after shooting)

Another one from today, obviously the best of the day.

Tikka Veil K2 308. 100 yards, 10 rounds. Brand new set up… this was maybe 30 rounds in.

Definitely my best group of the day.

5 shot group @ 200 yards with a 6.5 creed Tikka Wideland. Looks like 4 but trust me there is 5 in there. This is with 135gr Bergers and RL26 moving at 2960 fps. Would love to show a 10 shot group but I am getting low on these Bergers and they are hard as hell to find right now.
