The lack of response here overall is disappointing...and one more thing....with just a few minutes of looking over the (Shiras) 'moose' forum here, one can see the endless first "I drew a tag!" postings with obligatory "congrats" and input from other forum members and then *poof* the original posters are history. Nothing more offered, no pics, no story, nothing.

I'll look over some other Shiras on the 'net.

If ND is North Dakota then that is not a Shiras; it would be a Canada moose.

I got lucky in the Idaho draw last year. For a kid who grew up in the Midwest, the hunt was kind of an out of body experience. I couldn't be more thankful.

Here's a bull my brother killed last year in Idaho. We glassed him from about a mile away and after moving to within a few hundred yards I was able to call him in for a 20 yard shot. Really fun hunt.

Not a lower 48 Moose and, depending on which record book you look at, is it either a Shiras or a Canada Moose. This one is from Southern Alberta.
11 years to get the draw - 10 minute hunt! This bull surprised us by starting to grunt as we gathered gear at the truck. We ran a 100 yards into the timber, set up to call but he had heard us walking into the timber and came to greet us. A 25 yard shot, 60 yard recovery and less than 200 yard pack out! Seemed too easy, but no complaints. Just over 48".
