Slim,

What gaiters are those? It looks like it compresses your ankles, which I think would be helpful when packing heavy loads...

They are REI trail gators. Well worth the $20. My Salomon Quest boots are laced up really tight there for support and the gators are just flush. They don't really provide support but they are perfect for anything but deep snow. I wear them pretty much 100% of the time.

Here's my Timberline 3 packed with two front quarters of my elk that was shot yesterday. I was hunting solo so don't have any pics while carrying the pack; I'll spare everyone my selfies. Yes, the bone was in as it was only a half mile hike back and didn't have time to bone it out.

I'm about as close as I can get get to the mountains and still work in cattle feeding business. If it was up to me, I'd move back to Wyoming.

Good hunting on XIT land for mule deer, just have to know someone.220" killed out there a few years back.
Not a bad drive for southern Colo. Hunted around Cuchara,Co. a lot when I lived in Amarillo.

Returning to the trailhead after an 8 mile pack out with 100 lbs pack. Its a Kuiu Icon 5200 and it rode like a dream...
